• NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER AT AXOLOTL AND AXO

Axolotl is buzzing with activity in the run up to Xmas. Our current exhibition "Katnes Folio" launched on Saturday night - bonfire night and we were mobbed. The gallery is filled with beautiful affordable work from artists from Caithness - way up in the freezing north of Scotland.
This Saturday 12th November between noon and 3pm we are hosting an afternoon of cakes and wine on behalf of "The Treasure Trove" at 23a Castle Street (the wee shoppe with knitting and cakes!) - we will be supplying cakes for a small donation for the Royal Edinburgh Repository and Self Aid Society (registered charity number SCO 06702) - so pop along and enjoy some delicious home baking.

The Jock Tamson's Bairns Exhibition runs from 17-29th November 2011
    11am - 4pm Tuesday - Thursday | Friday and Saturday 11am - 6pm

    About the Exhibition
Migrants have come to Scotland down the ages. They left their countries of birth for many of the same reasons as the Scots migrants who spread out across the globe. The contribution of hard working visionary and creative migrant families has been similar to that of the Scots in North America, Australia, Asia and Africa

The Jock Tamson's Bairns Exhibition shines a wee light on a diverse group of people who have been born Scottish or become Scottish and brought up with a mix of traditions from other countries, different references but who also feel strongly that they belong here. That Scotland is their home too.
    Open Days: November 19th and 26th 2011 11am-6pm
We have pleasure in inviting you to drop in on Saturday 19 November and Saturday 26 November for the Jock Tamson's Bairn's Open Days. With special guests and events throughout both days, join us for a glass of wine and a celebration of a dynamic, multicultural Scotland.

    A Different Shot – 25-27 November

AXO are delighted to be showing an exhibition of photography by a group of talented young artists.
    Karen:
“I began to understand how images could be used to express feeling and or convey messages and thoughts, “Do I have something to say, something powerful?” With this thought we began A Different Shot, we contacted friends and invited young disabled people to get together and share ideas and started taking pictures. We hope you enjoy our images.”
