Biography

Maike Browning’s Degree show collection is made up of tactile, delicate jewellery which is both beautiful to look at and sensual to wear.

Maike draws inspiration from her travels in India. Suggestions of skylines can be seen in her ‘Amritsar Rings’ series. The vibrant colours of Indian textiles are reflected subtly through the use of colourful stones and pink threads. Intricate patterns of Indian textiles can be found in delicate wire structures and mirror like silver pieces. These structures cast shadows and flecks of colour across the skin, bringing the influences of the rich culture of India directly onto the female form.

Maike works intuitively with precious and non-precious materials, including threads, gold and silver, to create jewellery with a flowing movement. This allows the pieces to fall naturally over the body, catching flickers of light as the wearer moves, drawing attention to the figure.
