Biography

A collection of photographic evidence, illustrations and interventions with a voyeuristic narrative, the intention of discussing the body as a theoretical subject and examine bodies which perform challenges to the social expectations. Possibilities are investigated in abject art, obscene and morbid theatricality and images connected to death and anatomy introduced through figurative painting. Exploring the work of contemporary artists who disentangle violent theatricality and body boundaries, mutilation, performing identity and issues of representation of absent bodies. Envisage insight into the exceptional body, especially poignant embodiment of social anxieties; that induces simultaneous repulsion and fascination. Creating a provocative engagement with the cultural exploitation of the body and its desires; and explore interest within theories of sexuality and spectatorship. Transgressive interpretations of traditional and contemporary imagery contextualising subcultural forms and theoretical perspectives.
